How to Live in Fear

How to Live in Fear by Lance Hahn is a strategically and spiritually led written book about how to tackle the anxiety disorder in all of us. Lance Hahn is a pastor from Roseville, California who struggles with a severe anxiety disorder. In this book, he writes about his struggle and gives advice through it. He uses his struggle to help others who are possibly going through the same thing or those who have a loved one who is struggling with anxiety like he is.

Anxiety is a disorder that is a lot more common than you may think. I’m sure we’re all afraid of something and having that fear of something may bring along anxiety. This book touches on all levels of anxiety and it covers methods on how to handle and conquer the battle that we have with anxiety.

Lance Hahn goes over three different parts of living with anxiety in this book. In the first part, he goes over his journey of tackling anxiety; his story of his anxiety disorder. Lance writes about different events that have taken place in his life that have given him issues with his anxiety and how he handled them. He also writes about how his family is affected and how they played a role in helping with his issues.

In the second part, Lance goes through the journey he creates with every reader of this book to help with tackling anxiety. He goes over the ups and downs of anxiety (yes, there are some upsides). He takes anxiety and dissects it, in order to relate to and help the reader of this book on a personal level. Lance explains that there are general methods that have helped him with his anxiety and he thinks they can help the reader or the one who’s struggling with anxiety. He talks about how anxiety isn’t just something that affects you on the inside, but the outside as well. He goes over methods for improvement in both areas. These methods won’t only improve your anxiety, but your overall living.

The third part that Lance goes over is the Spiritual part of the journey of tackling anxiety. This part is my favorite, because he may mention his spiritual journey throughout this whole book, but this part of the book really goes in depth on how much God is involved with our lives. This part opened my eyes to how much I don’t know about spiritual warfare and what is actually going on when I suffer with anxiety. There have been times when I have thought that my suffering was because of something that I did wrong, but I was wrong about that. Lance Hahn reveals to us in this book a true message of faith and helps us to find the strength to tackle the devil’s plan with God’s plan that He has for us.

Personally, I don’t suffer with severe anxiety. I do have fears, though, that keep me from doing some things that I probably should be doing, for God. I do have someone that is very close to me that suffers from an anxiety disorder. This person hasn’t been officially diagnosed, but all of the symptoms are there. This person relies on harmful things to cope with the anxiety and I chose this book to read and review so I can get a better insight and understanding of severe anxiety to help this certain person in my life. Little did I know, I would not only get insight for that other person, but I got insight for myself and how I can tackle my fears and the suffering that I go through.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone that is going through the battle of anxiety. No matter what level of fear it may be. I also recommend this book to anyone who is living with or close to someone that is going through a battle with anxiety. This book let me see things from the perspective of someone that is going through a battle with severe anxiety and I feel like it will help me be more compassionate and patient towards my loved one that is going through the same battle.

I was given this book for free in exchange for a book review from bookbloggers
